Tour Details

The Essence of Tanzania Safari is a journey through the heart of Tanzania’s most remarkable landscapes — from the elephant-filled savannas of Tarangire to the flamingo-dotted Lake Manyara, the sweeping Serengeti plains, and the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater.

Adding to this rich mix is Lake Eyasi, a remote and cultural highlight where you’ll meet the Hadzabe bushmen, one of Africa’s last hunter-gatherer tribes, and the Datoga blacksmiths who still forge traditional tools and jewelry. This cultural encounter adds an unforgettable human dimension to your wildlife adventure.

With well-paced travel, diverse habitats, and authentic experiences, this seven-day safari captures the full essence of Tanzania — its wildlife, landscapes, and people.

    What to Expect

Expect a well-rounded safari that combines the thrill of wildlife viewing with cultural enrichment. Each park brings its own highlight — elephants and baobabs in Tarangire, tree-climbing lions in Manyara, endless plains in Serengeti, and the dense wildlife of Ngorongoro Crater.

At Lake Eyasi, you’ll experience something truly different: authentic human encounters that reveal how the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes have thrived in harmony with nature for centuries. This itinerary balances adventure, relaxation, and culture, offering a holistic view of Tanzania.

    Itinerary

Day 1Arusha → Tarangire National Park

Depart Arusha after breakfast for Tarangire National Park, a two-hour scenic drive through Maasai steppe and open plains. Upon arrival, begin your game drive through the park’s woodlands and open savanna, home to Tanzania’s largest elephant herds.

Spot lions, giraffes, zebras, and buffaloes gathered along the Tarangire River. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, followed by an afternoon drive before heading to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2Tarangire → Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Enjoy a game drive through this lush park famous for its tree-climbing lions and pink flamingos. Explore the groundwater forest and open plains teeming with wildlife like impalas, hippos, and monkeys.

Take a break for lunch at a scenic picnic site and continue your game drive until late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at a lodge or camp near the park.

Day 3Lake Manyara → Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, drive via the Ngorongoro highlands into the endless plains of the Serengeti. Stop for breathtaking views and optional visits along the way.

Arrive at Serengeti National Park by midday, enjoying your first game drive en route to your camp or lodge. Expect to see wildebeest, zebras, lions, and possibly cheetahs hunting across the open savannah. Dinner and overnight in the central Serengeti.

Day 4Full Day in Serengeti National Park

Spend a full day exploring the vast Serengeti ecosystem. Morning and afternoon game drives maximize your chances of encountering the Big Five. During migration seasons (June–October or December–March), witness the great herds moving across the plains.

Enjoy a picnic lunch and continue your drive to explore different regions of the park, before returning to your accommodation for dinner and overnight under a starlit sky.

    Day 5Serengeti → Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, depart the Serengeti with en route game viewing as you head to Ngorongoro. Descend into the famous Ngorongoro Crater for a spectacular wildlife experience.

Spend several hours on the crater floor observing elephants, lions, zebras, and the rare black rhino in this lush natural amphitheater. Have a picnic lunch beside a hippo pool before ascending to the crater rim for dinner and overnight at a lodge overlooking the crater.

Day 6Ngorongoro → Lake Eyasi (Cultural Experience)

After breakfast, drive to Lake Eyasi, a quiet and scenic area surrounded by the Rift Valley escarpment. Upon arrival, meet your local guide and visit the Hadzabe bushmen — one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer communities in Africa. Join them in a morning hunt or learn traditional survival techniques.

Later, visit the Datoga blacksmiths, who craft tools and jewelry using centuries-old methods. This day offers a deeply cultural immersion into Tanzania’s ancient heritage. Dinner and overnight at a lodge or camp near Lake Eyasi.

    Day 7Lake Eyasi → Arusha

After a relaxed breakfast, enjoy a final stroll through the Lake Eyasi region or visit local farms before departing for Arusha. The drive offers scenic views of rural Tanzania and the Great Rift Valley.

Arrive in Arusha by late afternoon — marking the end of your unforgettable Essence of Tanzania Safari.
