The Peaks & Plains Adventure is a once-in-a-lifetime 13-day journey that beautifully combines Tanzania’s two greatest experiences — conquering the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro and exploring the world’s most iconic safari parks.
Your adventure begins with a six-day climb of Mount Kilimanjaro via the scenic Marangu Route, also known as the “Coca-Cola Route.” This classic route offers comfortable mountain huts, gradual ascents, and stunning views as you make your way to Uhuru Peak — the highest point in Africa.
After the climb, you’ll have a well-deserved rest day in Arusha, where you’ll enjoy a relaxed town tour exploring cultural landmarks, local markets, and Tanzanian cuisine.
Refreshed and rejuvenated, your journey continues into the heart of the northern safari circuit — Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Lake Manyara — where endless plains, ancient baobabs, and abundant wildlife await. This perfectly balanced itinerary offers both the challenge of the mountain and the wonder of the wild.

6 AM (EAT)
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to Marangu village. Meet your mountain guide for a briefing, gear check, and overnight rest before your climb begins.
After breakfast, drive to Kilimanjaro National Park Gate for registration. Begin your hike through a lush rainforest filled with colobus monkeys and exotic birds.
Arrive at Mandara Hut in the afternoon for dinner and overnight. Approx. 4–5 hours of hiking.
The trail continues through heath and moorland zones, with panoramic views of the Mawenzi and Kibo peaks.
Arrive at Horombo Hut by mid-afternoon, enjoy dinner, and rest as temperatures begin to drop.
Spend the day at Horombo Hut for acclimatization. Take a short hike toward Mawenzi Ridge for beautiful views before returning for lunch and relaxation.
This extra day greatly improves your success rate for reaching the summit.
Continue ascending through alpine desert terrain. The landscape becomes more barren, but the anticipation builds as you near the base of the summit.
Dinner and overnight at Kibo Hut, preparing for your midnight summit attempt.
Begin your summit attempt around midnight, reaching Uhuru Peak at sunrise — the highest point in Africa. Enjoy breathtaking views before descending back to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight rest.
Descend through the rainforest to Marangu Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificate. After lunch, transfer back to Arusha for a hot shower, dinner, and a well-deserved rest at your hotel.
Enjoy a relaxing cultural and city tour of Arusha. Visit the Maasai Market, Tanzanite Experience Museum, Clock Tower, and a local café for authentic Swahili cuisine.
This day allows your body to recover from the climb while you experience local life before your safari begins.
Depart after breakfast for Tarangire National Park, home to massive elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. Enjoy a full-day game drive along the Tarangire River, where animals gather for water.
Dinner and overnight at a lodge near the park.
After breakfast, journey through the beautiful highlands and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area before entering the Serengeti.
Enjoy an afternoon game drive across the vast plains, where lions, cheetahs, and wildebeests roam freely. Dinner and overnight inside Serengeti.
Spend a full day exploring the Serengeti. Witness the breathtaking Great Migration (seasonal) or track the Big Five.
Picnic lunch in the bush followed by an afternoon drive before returning to camp for dinner and stargazing.
After breakfast, drive toward the Ngorongoro Crater, stopping at a Maasai village en route. Descend into the crater for an incredible wildlife experience among rhinos, elephants, and hippos.
After a picnic lunch, ascend to the crater rim for dinner and overnight with spectacular views.
After breakfast, visit Lake Manyara National Park for a final game drive. Spot flamingos, giraffes, and the famous tree-climbing lions.
After lunch, drive back to Arusha for transfer to the airport — marking the end of your unforgettable “Peaks & Plains Adventure.”
